ALBAWABA - Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, Abdulkader Husrieh, revealed details of the new Syrian currency, CNBC reported Monday.
In an interview with the American channel, the governor explained that the bank is preparing to launch an international tender to print the new currency, which will be open to all countries, "even the United States."
Abdulkader Husrieh further explained that the design is in its final stages and will not be inspired by any single figure, but rather bears symbolic significance related to "Syria, reborn."

He pointed out that the new lira represents "part of our financial liberation after achieving our political liberation," while emphasizing that there is a sufficient transitional period to replace the old currency with the new one.
Regarding monetary reform plans, the Governor of the Central Bank of Syria explained that removing two zeros from the currency will not change its purchasing power, but rather aims to facilitate accounting operations and enhance the confidence of those dealing in the local currency.
