In line with the signing of the Jordan-US Free Trade Agreement (FTA) last Tuesday, a new website providing information about the agreement and the opportunities it provides has been launched into cyberspace.

The site, which was introduced by the Central E-Commerce Company and sponsored by Jormall.com — a comprehensive e-commerce site — includes the full text of the FTA, in addition to featured news about the agreement and its developments.

“This new site is a private non-profit initiative by Central E-Commerce and Jormall.com in an effort to promote business between Jordanian and US companies,” said Jad Maqdah, CEO of Central E-Commerce.

He said the site features a page where businesspeople and companies in both countries could list their names and details of projects they established or aspire to establish in cooperation between both sides under the FTA. “In addition, the site provides a newsletter that will include the latest news on business opportunities in both countries and the latest additions to the site's database,” Maqdah said.

He added that listing information on the site and subscribing to its newsletter were free-of-charge.

The site also includes the names and addresses of various organizations and institutions in both Jordan and the US concerned with the implementation of the agreement.

Central E-Commerce is putting considerable effort into promoting this new site. “We have sent thousands of e-mails and SMS messages about the site to potential investors, interested companies and individuals, and chambers of commerce in both countries,” said Maqdah, adding that his company will launch a promotional campaign for the site next week.

The FTA, which will provide products made in Jordan with unimpeded access to the world's largest market, was signed in Washington on October 25 in the presence of King Abdullah and US President Bill Clinton. — ( Jordan Times )
