ALBAWABA - A new water fountain in the Austrian city of Vienna has earned the title of "ugliest" in the world, despite its hefty cost of 2 million US dollars, according to local reports.

The fountain, created by the artistic group "Gelitin" in collaboration with Austrian authorities, commemorates the 150th anniversary of Vienna's modern water system. This system provides the city with fresh water from the green forest streams of the Alps and has played a crucial role in eliminating diseases such as cholera.

While the design of the new landmark symbolizes "social responsibility towards water," it has not gained public favor, especially after the revelation of its million-dollar price tag. Since its opening on October 24th, attended by Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, the fountain's design has faced widespread criticism on social media. Some followers have dubbed it the "ugliest fountain" globally, while others argue that it tarnishes Vienna's image.

Despite the criticism, the local government, led by the city's mayor, insists that the design is "exceptional and inspired by reality," conveying a central sense of collective effort.
