ALBAWABA – In a new post on X (formerly Twitter), Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk has shared new footage of the company’s highly anticipated and controversial Optimus robot walking around their lab, showing smoother motion and improved balance compared to previously shared videos.
The artificial-intelligence-powered robot was first unveiled by Tesla in Aug. 2021, built on the company’s AI systems for their cars and considered a step towards Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), Optimus is dubbed to be able to take tasks that are dangerous, repetitive or outright boring for humans.
The official Tesla account for Optimus shared the video captioned “Getting my daily steps in” with Musk reposting it saying “Optimus strolling around the lab”, sparking a series of comments with some users sharing their fear of the upcoming technology, while others making fun of the robot by comparing its walk to that of US President Joe Biden!
Elon Musk has also shared a video last month of Optimus folding clothes, which many saw fascinating, however Musk notes that this is not an autonomous process yet but once the robot is ready for the masses it will be so and will not require a specialized environment for the task.
