The US-based ITT Industries has won a $143 million contract for the sale of six SPS-48E three-dimensional radar systems to the Egyptian army. The contract was issued by the US military, through the Marine Corps Systems Command in Quantico, Virginia.
According to a statement by the company, the radar systems will allow Egypt to manage both air defense and internal airspace more reliably and efficiently, by provide Egypt an air defense command with real time display of all air activity, and supporting a wide range of operations in all types of weather and terrain conditions.
The systems were developed and produced by the Gilfillan Radar Group of ITT Industries' Systems Division. Gilfillan is a unit of ITT Industries, which provides advanced air defense, surveillance, multifunction and air traffic control radar systems.
ITT Industries is headquartered in White Plains, New York, and employs 42,000 people worldwide. ― (MENA Report)
