The United States supplied Yemen with 8,189 tons of flour worth $24 million in food aid earlier this month, the US embassy in Yemen said Sunday, November 18.
In April 2000, Washington increased its annual aid to Yemen from $30 million to between $40 and $50 million during a visit to the United States by Yemeni President Ali Abdallah Saleh.
Other than food aid, US funding to Yemen goes to education, security and humanitarian projects. — (AFP, Sanaa)
