A US federal appeals court on Wednesday ruled the families of four victims of extremist attacks were allowed to go after $17 million worth of financial claims over an Iranian bank, the Associated Press reported.
The 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals denied Bank Melli's appeal to dismiss the claims.
US Congress said families of "terrorist" attack victims are allowed to collect financial debts from the state that sponsored the attacks. Bank Melli is a state-owned institution in Iran.
Victims and their families won nearly $1 billion in financial claims over Iran from attacks that occurred between 1999 and 2002, according to the AP.
