The American Joint Economic Development Group (JEDG) team has officially approved loan guarantees for Israel. Director General of the Ministry of Finance, Ohad Marani returned to Israel following the completion of the discussions of the JEDG in Washington.

In the course of these discussions, the Director General presented the economic plan and its ratification by the Government and the Knesset. The teams reached the mutual conclusion that the Israeli Government had successfully passed the plan and implemented its immediate stages in a most impressive manner, as expressed by Under-Secretary of State, Alan P. Larson, head of the American team.

This represents final and official approval, by the JEDG forum, that Israel has fulfilled its obligations for ratifying the economic plan for the year 2003 and the Ministry of Finance may therefore begin to raise the guarantees.

Israeli Minister of Finance Benjamin Netanyahu, having participated in some of the discussions of the joint committee last week in Washington, welcomed the decision and said: "We have met our obligations and have delivered the economic plan that we declared; the Americans are pleased with what we have accomplished and are therefore expressing their appreciation of the plan”. — (menareport.com)
