Egyptian authorities will allocate 20 million pounds ($4.3 million) to the renovation of non-functioning electricity networks in approximately 143 villages in Upper Egypt. The investment will increase the capacity of the networks’ medium volt electricity suuply, reported Al-Ahram.
The Egyptian regions to be affected by the upgrade are Qena, Aswan and Sohag. Egypt’s electricity generation capacity is estimated at 113 billion kilowatts per hour, whereas the overall domestic energy consumption stands at 77 billion kilowatts per hour. In addition to meeting domestic demand, the united electricity network supplies power Libya, Syria and Jordan. — (menareport.com)
