Negotiations are currently underway between Spain's Union Fenosa and several unnamed international firms seeking involvement in establishing a liquefied natural gas plant in Egypt, according to Jose Javier Fernandez Martinez, a deputy general manager with Union Fenosa, quoted by Reuters

Several names have been mentioned in relation to Egyptian collaboration with Union Fenosa, amongst which were BP and Royal Dutch/Shell. Martinez told Reuters that Union Fenosa would be interested in establishing partnerships for the operation and maintenance of the plant with parties, which posses gas supplies and a gas market.

The company executive added that the company would soon announce its decision regarding two offers for an engineering contract to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal at Damietta. Union Fenosa had reportedly chosen Citibank as its financial adviser for the project. — (Mena Report)
