Umniah, Jordan's latest mobile operator and a subsidiary of Batelco Bahrain Group announced that it has added a new switch to service its subscribers in the northern parts of the Kingdom, which are witnessing continuous subscription to Umniah voice and data services.
This move comes in line with the company relentless efforts to provide the best services with the highest standards to its subscribers. The new switch can accommodate around 400,000 subscribers. Umniah has also installed 47 new mobile base stations to service the governorates of Irbid, Ramtha, Ajloun and Jerash.
Eng. Tareq Abu Essa, Core Network Manager of Umniah, said the new switch has been installed to enhance Umniah's network ability to provide subscribers with all mobile telephony services as well as data services which guarantees the best quality especially that Umniah's network performance has achieved high levels of excellence. The switch, which is the third in a number of switches that service the network, has also successfully undergone a Stress Loading process for three weeks.
Eng. Abu Essa added: "This unique switch has been designed with the latest, top-notch technology of Soft Switch. This will enhance the network's ability to accommodate the increasing number of subscribers within Umniah's network."
Eng. Sami Al Habahbeh Umniah's Transmission and Network Operations Manager, said the new switch has been connected with the company's main Switches in Shmeisani and Dahiyat Al Rasheed via Microwave and Fiber Optic Cable which guarantees uninterrupted quality of service.
Umniah recently announced the completion of its successful plan to extend its network coverage to include 99% of populated areas in the Kingdom in a record time. The process of expanding and upgrading Umniah's GSM 1800 network included 810 sites around the Kingdom to provide solid, continuous, high-quality voice calls and other services such as EDGE.
