United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) has standardized its technology environment on the latest Microsoft platform, to serve 16,000 students across its various campuses. The university recently signed a technology agreement with the software major that will further streamline both administrative and education processes within the institution.
The University has deployed the Active Directory component of Windows 2000 to reach approximately 18,000 students and faculty members spread over the none college and six campuses that it operates. Simultaneously UAEU has also become one of the first organizations in the region to go in for a large-scale deployment of Microsoft Operations Manager, with a view to further streamlining various educational and administrative processes within the University. The UAE University is also one of tree Universities under the Ministry of Higher Education that recently signed a campus agreement with Microsoft for the use of the latest Microsoft technologies.
Founded in 1975, Microsoft is the worldwide leader in software, services and Internet technologies for personal and business computing. Microsoft opened its Dubai-based Middle East headquarters office in 1991 and also has offices in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. In 1999, Microsoft opened offices in Lebanon, Kuwait and Pakistan and offices in Jordan and Oman earlier this year. — (menareport.com)
