Official statistics show that the value of exchanges between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Australia reached 4.2 billion Emirati Dirhams ($1.1 billion) last year, up from Dh 3.7 billion in the previous year, reported Al-Bayan . These figures translate into a Dh 473 million rise, which is equivalent to 12.8 percent. The Australian Ambassador in the UAE stated that the Australian exports to the UAE hit Dh 2.4 billion in 2001, a 20 percent increase compared with 2000.
