The United Arab Emirates topped the GCC list of the expected salary improvements or hikes this year while the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia followed one step behind. In fact, the UAE was ranked as number 19 in the world in terms of expected salary hikes in this year and Saudi, once again, landed a step behind it. This information was concluded through a study done by May Herang Club, a specialist in recruitment and a global leader in employment.
The study further revealed that the expected salary hikes within the United Arab Emirates will hit a 8.2 percent increase while Saudi based employees will experience a 7.43 percent. Kuwait took the third rank in the GCC and 21st place globally and will have a 7.30 percent hike. Qatar and Bahrain followed suit at 4th and 5th places in the Gulf with 7.12 and 6.86 percent hikes respectively.
On a global scale, the study also took extensive measures to compare 5,326 companies in 31 countries and interestingly enough, Denmark came in the lead with 16.49%, followed by Ireland, England, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Australia, United States of America, Hong Kong and then India at 14.03 percent.
In a separate study conducted by GulfTalent.com, an online recruitment website in the Middle East, it was revealed that during 2011, the UAE experienced a general salary increment of 6.3 percent. Conclusively, if we match the latest study, it shows that the UAE will have an almost 2 percent increase in 2012 compared to 2011.
