A 'five-star task force' has been assembled to assist in the opening of Djibouti's first ever five-star hotel, the Djibouti Palace Kempinski, early next month. The 100-strong taskforce will be comprised of staff from the Kempinski Hotel at Mall of the Emirates, Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi and Kempinski Hotel Ajman.

The new hotel, developed by UAE property developer Nakheel Hotels & Resorts, was built in record time, according to Khaleej Times, in a mere seven months.

The hotel is set to open on November 6, 2006. Shortly thereafter it will host the prestigious COMESA heads of state summit, which welcomes senior diplomats, politicians and heads of state from Africa and the rest of the world.

The first phase of the hotel includes 177 rooms and suites, and a state-of-the-art conference center and ballroom with the capacity to host up to 1,100 guests, four a la carte restaurants, landscaped gardens, beach facilities, a spa, a sports bar and lobby lounge, and wireless internet throughout the hotel complex.

"Whenever we open a new Kempinski, we bring in our best staff to work with the local team, ensuring everything meets the high standards we set. However the team we are bringing to Djibouti is the largest taskforce team we have ever assembled,” said Bugra Berberoglu, general manager of the Djibouti Palace Kempinski.

"An advance party will arrive in Djibouti on October 24 and the main group is scheduled to arrive on November 1.  They will work together to ensure every team member will be fully prepared for the opening of this hotel property,” he added.
