UAE-Japan trade up

The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), a Japanese government-related organization that promotes mutually beneficial trade and investment relations, reported that the value of bilateral trade between the UAE and Japan jumped to Dh 56.9 billion ($17.9 billion) in the first half of 2006, up from Dh 47.56 billion ($12.9 billion) in the same period last year, an impressive 38% rise.


All in all, the value of the UAE's imports from Japan jumped to Dh 10.39 billion ($2.83 billion) in the first half of 2006, up from Dh 8.55 billion ($2.33 billion) in the same period last year, an impressive 21% rise.


Meanwhile, the value of the UAE's exports to Japan climbed to Dh 55.53 billion ($15.13 billion) in the first half of 2006, up from Dh 39 billion ($10.63 billion) in the same period last year, an impressive 42% rise.
