59 commercial outlets at The Lagoon, the commercial complex at Amwaj Islands, have been successfully handed over to tenants as part of phase I, it was announced yesterday. Two more phases are left to be handed over by end of this year.
Buildings 1, 2, 7 and 8 of the Lagoon project, a US$ 90 million development located at Amwaj Islands, are now ready for occupancy to commence by tenants including Kuwaiti strategic partner Al Shaye'a Group, who will open international brand outlets in the complex.
The master plan for the Lagoon was designed drawing reference from other internationally acclaimed retail and lifestyle properties such as London's Covent Garden and Sydney's Cockle Bay Wharf. The Lagoon consists of eight low rise sea-front blocks which will house restaurant and retail outlets to residents and visitors to Amwaj Islands, a 2.75 million square meter development in Muharraq.
The Lagoon also includes a 1 kilometre walkway that stretches around the perimeter of the development, as well as covered parking for customers.
With the completion of this first phase, ADIH is on track to complete the second and third phases and handover the respective units by the end of this year.
Rashad Janahi, CEO, ADIH, said, "We witnessed substantial demand by commercial investors for the Lagoon's units, and are pleased to start welcoming our clients to this important project.
"With a strategy to provide optimal lifestyle options to Amwaj's customers, ADIH has partnered with world-class retail providers, ensuring that residents and visitors alike can enjoy a convenient one-stop experience in a premium atmosphere."
