Turkey's trade deficit widened by 107.6 percent on a 12-month comparison to $21.79 billion (€23.15 billion) in the first 10 months of the year, the state statistics institute announced Monday.
Imports increased by 35.4 percent to $43.87 billion (€47.33 billion) over the same period, while exports rose by 0.8 percent to $22.08 billion (€23.82 billion), it said.
The falling value of the euro against the dollar was a major factor in dollar terms for Turkey, with over 50 percent of its exports going to European Union countries. — (AFP, Ankara)
