Average daily gas sales from the Amity -Turkiye Petrolleri A0 (TPAO) joint venture in Western Turkey, for the first 15 days of December were 11.37 million standard cubic feet per day. This was slightly down from the 13.57 million standard cubic feet per day for the last 15 days of November.
The sales drop was attributed to the Byram national holiday for the three days immediately following the end of the one-month Ramadan period. During the holiday and the following
weekend much of Turkish industry closed down. Apart from the holiday, gas consumption increased with the onset of winter conditions in the second week of December.
The joint venture, operated by Australia's Amity and owned jointly by Amity and Turkiye Petrolleri A0 (TPAO) now has contracts to deliver approximately 20 million standard cubic feet per day from early 2003. Deliveries from the Gocerler Gas Field are expected to increase steadily from the present rate in late January when pipelines to eight new industrial customers begin to be connected.
Construction is proceeding satisfactorily and, subject to weather conditions, is anticipated to be completed by the end of January 2003. There is expected to be no interruption to gas supply during construction. This upgrade will increase the capacity of the plant to
just over 20 million cubic feet per day. Further equipment expected by the end of the first quarter of 2003 will increase the plant capacity.
Construction of access roads are in progress for development wells Gocerler-4 and 5. A dual rig operation is anticipated so that, subject to weather and drilling contractor, Gocerler-A and 5 are anticipated to spud at the end of December. — (menareport.com)
