Turkey’s Yapi Kredi is now one of the world’s top Visa card issuers. The bank ranked 10th among 5,700 financial institutions in 45 countries, reported Sabah . As the first bank to issue Visa in Turkey, Yapi Kredi ranked in 20th place on an international list in terms of transactions made with the credit card.
Established in 1944 as the first private bank in Turkey, Yapi Kredi is the third largest financial institution in the Republic in terms of total assets, reaching $8.9 million in 2001. It handles the largest credit card business volume, amounting to 29 percent of total market, along with a wide point of service (POS) network and more than 1,300 automated teller machines (ATM) across the country. — (menareport.com)
