The Turkish city of Antalya received 10 percent more tourists since this past January compared with figures from the same period last year, reported Milliyet . According to Chairman of the Mediterranean Tourist Hotels Association (AKTOB), Ahmet Barut, Antalya will receive five million visitors by the end of the year.
Some 675,000 tourists visited Turkey during the month of March. Approximately 59 percent of the visitors came from member states of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), a 21 percent increase compared to the same period last year, reported Gumhuriyet. Travelers from eastern Mediterranean countries increased by 27 percent compared to 2001 figures. — (menareport.com)
