The Tunisian bureau of statistics has announced that the consumer price index in Tunisia is down by 0.1% in November 2004. The index is based on the average family consumption against the previous month.

The Tunisian official news agency attributes the decrease to a decline in food prices by 0.6%, particularly, poultry, vegetables and fresh fruit. Housing and transport remained more or less static. Clothing registered an increase of about 0.7%.

The general trend is of a controllable rate of inflation in Tunisia and steady economic growth.
