Sources at the Tunisian ministries of agriculture and industry estimated the local olive oil output at 150,000 tons for this farming season (2000/2001) compared to 225,000 tons in the previous season of 1999/2000.

According to Al-Watan newspaper, this production decrease largely resulted from the shortage of rain in the country.

These sources estimated the quantity of the Tunisian olive oil exports at 115,000 tons this farming season (2000/2001). They explained this decline in exports as a result of the decreasing olive oil output this year. ¯ (Albawaba-MEBG)
