ALBAWABA – Donald Trump, former US President and 2024 presidential candidate, announced opening a new golf course at his resort in Scotland by 2025. This decision sparked controversy due to concerns about the environmental impact on nearby sand dunes.

It is worth noting that the new course project, established by Trump and his son Eric, will feature the largest sand dunes in Scotland and will be located next to the first golf course which was opened in 2012, according to Trump International Resort.
Sarah Malone, executive vice president of Trump International Scotland, said: “Since breaking ground with President Trump and Eric Trump last spring, we have made extraordinary progress. This course is unlike any other links course ever built and is exceeding every expectation. A truly remarkable, world-class team of architects, engineers, environmental scientists, and industry specialists have been working tirelessly in the background – etching out every square inch of this phenomenal piece of land to create one of the great wonders in the world of golf.”
Concerns about sand dunes
The recent announcement of the new golf course sparked controversy over concerns about its environmental impact on nearby sand dunes.
Four years ago, the sand dunes along the North Sea coast lost their status as a nationally important protected environment, which was followed by local opposition to the resort's construction.
However, Trump International Resort consistently claims that its establishments are environmentally friendly and sustainable.
