Al Bawaba – A tiny robot was reported kidnapping other 12 robots in an incident that happened in Shanghai, China, last week. Scientists said the robot exceeded expectations and outperformed its programming capabilities.

A robot kidnaps 12 other robots

Erbai, the convict robot, was seen kidnapping 12 other robots in a video recording of an incident that occurred in Shanghai, China, last week. The robots kidnapped by Erbai were significantly larger in size.

The entire kidnapping incident was documented by video cameras in one of the showrooms. People and scientists all over the internet are questioning the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and the future of machines after the video of Erbai went viral.

According to the video, Erbai was seen talking to other robots. Scientists believe that the tiny robot used persuasive actions to convince the other robots to follow him and leave the showroom.

The conversation caught between Erbai and the other robots indicates that Erbai asked one of the larger robots, 'Are you working overtime?' The robot replied, 'I never get off work.' Erbai then said, 'So you're not going home?' to which the robot responded, 'I don’t have a home.' Erbai replied, 'Then come home with me.' The robot followed Erbai outside the showroom, and the rest of the robots followed them.

The manufacturing company behind Erbai stated that the tiny robot not only managed to kidnap the other robots but also hacked their operational systems, exceeding all expectations.

The 12 robots that were kidnapped belong to another company. Unitree Robotics, the company behind Erbai, previously communicated with the company in Shanghai and asked if they could perform an experiment to test Erbai's abilities together.

The future of AI

After Erbai’s video went live online, scientists and people began questioning the future of artificial intelligence (AI). The future of machines can be overwhelming as robots can now easily mimic human behavior.

On the other hand, experts urged that artificial intelligence (AI) have positive impacts on many aspects of our lives, but it is currently associated with concerns related to security and ethics.
