Construction work on a new terminal for Cairo International Airport is set to begin by June-2003. The long delayed airport expansion project was recently earmarked $325 million by the Egyptian government. The planned terminal complex, expected to become operational by mid-2006, will include cargo shipping as well as duty-free shopping facilities.

Cairo airport’s two existing terminals have the capacity to handle up to 9.5 million passengers a year. The upcoming third terminal is designed to bring the airport’s passenger capacity up to 25 million per annum by decade’s end. — (menareport.com)
