Telspec, a UK-based telecommunications equipment company, has been awarded a new digital pair gain contract from Egypt, for delivery in 2003. An additional 100,000 telephone lines have been awarded and will be made available throughout the country to increase existing infrastructure in major cities rural areas.
Following this contract win, Telspec will have supplied over 400,000 lines to Egypt over two years, representing almost five percent of their fixed line network. Telspec is supplying the new lines to the National Services Project Organisation (NSPO) and to the Arabian Telecommunications Projects Company (ATPC).
Assisted by Telspec's local partner, PACC Electronic Engineering, the deployment of the new TelMax digital pair gain contract is planned to be completed in a period of six months.
Digital pair gain systems help operators grow their customer base at low cost, by enabling more customer connections to be made over new and existing access infrastructure.
Using digital pair gain equipment, a single copper pair can be used to deliver additional analogue telephony and data services. Telspec pair gain products have been an important building block for access networks in many countries.
Telspecis one of the UK's largest independent communications equipment suppliers. Founded in 1975, the company develops, manufactures and supplies specialized communications systems and solutions for use in networks that carry Internet and telephony services. These include specialized switching and service nodes for the base network as well as access and customer premises systems for voice and high-speed Internet services. — (menareport.com)
