Tekla and Bechtel initiate cooperation

International engineering-construction firm Bechtel Corporation has chosen Tekla's Xsteel software product as its central modeling and detailing tool. The new alliance will extend to the Middle East, where Bechtel has been involved in a number of construction initiatives. 

 

These include Jubail Industrial City, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia; Abu Dhabi Onshore Gas Development 2 Project; Jamnagar Refinery Project, Gulf of Kutch, India; and Sidi Krir Powr Plant, Egypt. Tekla's Xsteel has so far been utilized in the construction of the new Grand Hyatt Hotel and Sheikh Zayed Road's The Tower in Dubai, the Abu Dhabi Trade Center, and the Kingdom Trade Center in Saudi Arabia. 

 

In addition to Bechtel, Tekla counts Al Habtoor Construction, Cleveland Bridge, Emirates Building Systems, Headline Engineering, J. Ray McDermott, Hidada, Arabian International Co and Zamil Steel as its partners in the Middle East's construction sector.

Tekla's products are used in energy sales and distribution, building and construction and public infrastructure. Tekla Group's net sales for 2001 reached €39.2 million, increasing by 48 percent compared with the previous year. International operations accounted for 57 percent of net sales.
