Middle East online business-to-business marketplace Tejari announced at GITEX 2002 an agreement with the eHostingCenter to outsource the hosting of its online services for the region’s trading community.
The Tejari marketplace, which is currently hosted in the US, is planned to be hosted at the eHostingCenter, the Middle East’s most sophisticated e-business outsourced hosting facility, built and managed by IBM and Dubai Internet City. The transition will happen in a phased manner to ensure that there is full business continuity within the stringent service levels that Tejari offers in its hugely successful emarketplace.
Tejari is making this strategic move as part of its efforts to improve the availability and flexibility of its services offering. Backed by IBM’s global technical and services resources, the new outsourcing facility also gives Tejari a local pre-production system that allows it to train new members, and to test new features and functionality.
One of a handful of such facilities in the world, the eHostingCenter is located at Dubai Internet City (DIC) and has been designed and implemented by IBM Global Services (IGS). The center provides Middle East businesses the ability to cost-effectively and securely outsource mission-critical IT systems and pilot new e-business applications.
The eHostingCenter is connected to other IBM eBusiness Hosting Centers worldwide and is built with a strong emphasis on open standards to support both IBM and non-IBM technology, allowing Tejari to choose the solution that best suited their needs, which includes Sun Microsystems servers and data management features. The center will manage the management and scaling of Tejari’s system to provide an ideal environment for Internet, extranet, intranet and e-marketplace applications.
Tejari is the Middle East’s primary online business-to-business marketplace, facilitating procurement throughout the region. Tejari provides the sourcing, negotiation and transaction environment for a dynamic community of regional buyers throughout the Middle East, and international suppliers to the region. — (menareport.com)
