ALBAWABA - The Iranian Oil Ministry announced today that the two Chinese oil tankers that collided off Singapore yesterday were not carrying Iranian oil. The ministry stated the oil in the two tankers is not owned by Iran and the country has no connection with this accident.

Two tankers collided near Singapore

As reported by Reuters, Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said that the Hafina Nile, a Singapore flagged tanker, collided with Ceres I, an oil tanker with the flag of Sao Tomé and Principe. The two tankers were caught on fire after they collided at the eastern entrance of the Singapore Strait on Friday.

It is worth mentioning that Singapore is the largest oil trading center in Asia and the country has the largest port in the world. Singapore highly facilitates trade between Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Iran denies

Iran immediately denied the news of having Iranian oil on any of the Chinese tankers.

It is important to mention that Ceres I tanker that collided with Hafina Nile, is a massive oil tanker that was tracked for transporting almost 2 million barrels of Iranian oil. Nevertheless, The Iranian Oil Ministry declared that neither ship had been transporting oil from Iran.
