A bilateral agreement was signed Sunday, November 4, by Saudi Transport Minister Muhammad Salloum and his Syrian counterpart, Makram Ubeid, on the regulating of overland Transportation between the two countries.
The renewable one-year accord aims to promote the movement of passenger and goods between Syria and Saudi Arabia, through the facilitating of customs and other related procedures. According to the agreement, a transport vehicle, registered in Saudi Arabia or Syria and contracted for shipment by a commercial party in either country, would be permitted to easily move from one country to another, reported Al-Watan .
The ministers also discussed the possibility of establishing a rail link between Syrian capital Damascus and Saudi capital Jeddah, running through Jordan. — (menareport.com)
