Syrian Prime Minister declares recession is over

The Syrian Prime Minister, Mustapha Miro, announced that his government’s focus is on updating laws and qualifying staff, in addition to developing the economy. Miro stated that the national economy recorded a 2.7 percent growth rate in 2001, reported Al-Hayat . According to the Prime Minister, the statistics show that the country’s development process has already started and the recession of the nineties is in the past. The Syrian official predicts the national economy to record a 3.6 percent growth rate in 2003 and a similar rate in 2002. — (menareport.com)
