A protocol on cooperation in transport of cargo and passengers recently went in to effect between Turkey and Syria, according to Ankara Anatolia daily. The protocol was signed at a meeting attended by the Turkish-Syrian Joint Commission on Land Transportation.

The two parties agreed that the accord should take into account the transport needs of both, in accordance with the effective implementation of the International Land Transportation Agreement.

Turkish representatives reportedly raised the issue of what they saw as an unfair Syrian price hike for Turkish citizens holding TIR (International Transport Routier) cards. A request was filed to reduce such fees. Syria said it would look into the matter. ― (MENA Report)
