Syrian Lou'loua (Pearl) Airlines company on Sunday received its first rented BAe planes, which include 96 seats. "Syrian Pearl Airlines will help the Syrian Arab National Airlines meet the increasing demand on the aviation movement from and into Syria, particularly in light of the National Airlines establishment's incapability to cover the demand due to the decrease of its fleet," Syria's minister of transport Yarub Badr said during the ceremony.

According to SANA news agency, Badr stated "Pearl Company will run its flights into the destinations that the Syrian Airlines couldn't reach."

On his part, Abdul-Rahman Al-Attar, Pearl's chairman said the rented plane is currently run by a Spanish staff, and the Company will launch a training program for the Syrian staff." In the first stage of operation, Pearl will concentrate on domestic flights and then move to destinations out of Syria.

Syrian Pearl is a joint venture between the state-run Syrian Arab Airlines, Cham Holding and Kuwaiti Aqeela.
