Swarms of desert locusts arrive in Yemen

Field surveys have discovered that swarms of desert locusts exist in small groups in 12 breeding areas in coastal Yemen.

 

According to the Director of the Spotting and Fighting of Desert Locusts Center, Abdu Fari'a al-Rumeih made clear the reports of the surveyors found a dozen proliferation areas in the coastal region of Tihama to the west of the country.
"The center team immediately snuffed out the found locusts," he said, according to <i>SABA</I>. 

 

The center reports that drought in the coastal strip of Yemen including that which runs along the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea fortunately makes it unfavorable for the proliferation of the locusts.
