Survey: Unemployment in Jordan down

A recently issued survey by the Jordanian General Statistics Department shows that the average rate of unemployment in Jordan withdrew to 14.3% in the first nine months of the current year, down from 15.2% in the same period last year.


According to the same report, the average rate of unemployment in Jordan withdrew by 1.2% in the third quarter of 2006 compared with the same period last year to 15.4%, of which 12.4% among men and 31.4% among women.


The report shows that 60% of the jobless people in Jordan are at the age category 20-29 years old. The unemployment amounted to 28.8% among Jordanians at age category 20-24 years old and 18.25% among Jordanians at age category 25-29 years old.


Meanwhile, 1.4% of the total jobless people in Jordan are illiterate, according the survey.
