Sun Microsystems set to increase regional market penetration

Seeking to further increase market penetration across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Sun Microsystems has appointed of a general manager for its MENA regional operations. In his new role, Giuseppe ‘Joe' Zaccaria will focus on enhancing customer satisfaction while implementing an aggressive growth strategy for Sun across the region, according to a company press release. 

 

Zaccaria's objectives as the general manager for Sun in the MENA region include strengthening the company's presence within all key accounts, and further developing Sun's regional channel network. He will also drive greater adoption rates for Sun's solutions, particularly the SunTM ONE (Open Network Environment) platform.  

 

"While the Information Technology (IT) industry as a whole has experienced a challenging 18 months, Sun's vision and strategy has remained focused, enabling us to take market share from competitors, win business in critical new sectors, and introduce competitive new technologies to the region," remarked Denis Heraud, regional manager of Sun Microsystems, Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East & Africa (EMMA). 

 

Regionally, Sun Microsystems Middle East & Africa recently announced more than 20 percent growth in shipments of its server technology over the last four quarters. Sun's regional operations also reported that its enterprise storage and entry-level technologies represented the company's fastest-growing product offerings in the Middle East.
