Saudi minister of water and agriculture, Abdullah Bin Abdul-Aziz Bin Moamar, recently met with the director general of the Japanese Sumitomo company, according to London’s Al-Sharq Al-Awsat daily. The two reportedly discussed Sumitomo’s proposal to participate in new water desalinizing projects in Saudi Arabia.
The Japanese company holds a permit to set up a water desalinizing station in the Jubeil Industrial Estate valued at 8.25 billion Saudi riyals ($2.19 billion). The station is intended to produce 73,000 cubic meters of water per day, in addition to 700 megawatts of electrical power per hour. ― (MENA Report)
