Sudan has warned it may stop importing Kenyan tea and coffee in retaliation for a ban by Kenya on Sudanese oil imports.
Asked by reporters to comment on a reported measure by the Kenyan authorities barring delivery of a Sudanese oil shipments to Kenya, Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Ismail Sunday, July 22, delivered a warning of retaliation to neighboring Kenya.
Sudan imports $150 million of Kenyan tea and coffee per year, making the balance of trade in favor of Kenya, noted Ismail, adding: "it is therefore natural that we export oil to Kenya."
"Any hindrance to the trade exchange will be of an adverse impact on both countries," Ismail warned. ― (AFP, Khartoum)
