Sudan and neighboring Chad signed a number of agreements on trade, industry and investment during a seven-day official visit to Khartoum by Chadian Prime Minister Nagoum Yomassoum, Sudanese television said Sunday.
Yomassoum and Sudanese Vice President Ali Osman Taha signed the agreements at a closing session Saturday, saying the agreements were "in the interest of the two peoples," the television said.
The two leaders issued a joint statement saying Taha had briefed Yomassoum on efforts to reach peace in Sudan and on the country's economic situation, while the Chadian briefed Sudanese officials on economic and political development in his country.
During his visit, Yomassoum attended the opening session of the 18th annual Khartoum International Fair, which is being attended this year by some 650 companies from 35 Arab, African and European countries. — (AFP, Khartoum)
