Alcatel has signed a $12-million contract with the Saudi Telecom Company (STC) to deliver its Local Multipoint Distribution System (LMDS) solutions, allowing the Saudi carrier to offer broadband wireless access applications to small and medium enterprises (SMEs), stated a press release.
This first phase of Alcatel’s third contract with the Saudi operator includes the provision and deployment of several LMDS base stations and the associated equipment for customer premises, in order to connect an already existing customer base of 600 SMEs in Riyadh and Jeddah.
In addition, Alcatel will provide end-to-end network and service management (NSM) via the industry-leading Alcatel 5620 Network Manager (NM), and services such as radio network planning, installation and commissioning, project management and technical support.
