ALBAWBA - On Sunday, Spotify, the world's largest music streaming service, experienced a temporary outage, leaving thousands of users without access to their favorite music and podcasts.

According to downdetector.com, a platform that tracks app and service issues, more than 40,000 users reported problems with Spotify throughout the day.

The issues, which began around 10:40 AM ET, affected both the app and the website. Users reported that the app would not play music, while the website experienced server errors and failed to load properly.

Many took to social media to express their frustration, with some noting that the outage disrupted their workout routines and others mentioning it spoiled plans for a playlist at a child's birthday party, as reported by The Verge.

Spotify acknowledged the issue in a post on X (formerly Twitter), saying, "We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out!" Just an hour later, Spotify posted an update, reassuring users that "Everything’s looking much better now." As of Sunday afternoon, the platform appeared to be functioning normally, with the number of outage reports dropping significantly.

In 2023, Spotify reported having over 626 million users globally, including 246 million paying subscribers. This brief disruption impacted a significant portion of Spotify's huge user base.

For now, Spotify's services have returned to normal, though users are encouraged to report any lingering issues. With the outage resolved swiftly, listeners can once again access their playlists, podcasts, and personalized recommendations without further interruption.
