ALBAWABA - Japanese tech giant Sony has just announced the new model for the PlayStation 5 which is coming this holiday season! The design and engineering team collaborated to bring a new compact form factor to PlayStation users.
The new PS5 will offer the same specifications as its previous predecessors. Still, with one difference besides its small factor, Sony's newest PlayStation will come with an attachable Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive and a 1TB SSD for more internal storage.
Sony announces New PlayStation 5 model
Sony has stated that the new PlayStation 5 will be reduced by 30% in volume and weight by 18% for the digital version and 24% for the disk variant compared to the previous models.
In addition to the attachable Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive, there will be four detachable panels instead of two like the previous model with the top portion coming in a glossy look.
The new PS5 will hit US markets this November and will continue to roll out globally in the coming months. According to Sony, once the old variants run out of stock the new versions of the PS5 will be the only ones to go on sale.

- PS5 Digital Edition – 389.99 GBP - Japan
- PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – 66,980 JPY (includes tax)
- PS5 Digital Edition – 59,980 JPY (includes tax) 
A horizontal stand will be included with the new PS5 model but Sony will be releasing a new Vertical Stand compatible with all PS5 models that looks sturdier than the stock one for $29.99.
