Snamprogetti, the engineering and main contracting company of Italy’s oil giant Eni, has been awarded a turnkey contract for the construction of a grass-root gas treatment plant at Mellitah, on the Libyan coast at about 80 kilometers West of Tripoli. The total value of the contract is over €700 million ($708 million).
The contract has been awarded by Agip Gas, a company equally owned by the Libyan State Oil Company (NOC) and Eni to an international consortium including Snamprogetti, ABB Lumus and Korean company Hyundai Engineering and Construction.
The consortium led by Snamprogetti will provide engineering, material supply and construction with work to be completed in 29 months. The plant, which will have a capacity of 6.66 billion cubic meters per year, will treat raw gas and liquid hydrocarbons from the Libyan offshore fields and will supply products with specifications suitable for sale. The treated gas will be fit for transportation in the Italian gas network.
Snamprogetti has been operating in Libya for over 30 years carrying out turnkey projects in the refinery, gas and petrochemical plant sectors. — (menareport.com)
