The second edition of SMAP IMMO 2005, Moroccan real estate, introducing all of Morocco’s major cities, took place in Montreuil Exhibition Park, in Paris, from May 5 to May 8. Among the official representatives, who attended the opening day of the fair were Messrs Fathallah Sijelmassi (the Moroccan ambassador in Paris), Taoufic Hjira (the Morocan Minister in charge of Residence and Urban Planning) and Mrs Nezha Chekrouni (the Minister in Charge of Moroccans Residents Abroad).

EMarrakech reports that last year’s fair was a great success with more than 20,000 visitors, including many Moroccans residing abroad and interested in investing in their country of origin. This year, however, they are focusing on attracting mainly French investors following the new laws introduced in Morocco and the permission to Moroccan and French banks to loan money to Frenchmen, who wish to buy a house in Morocco.
