Aircraft industry executives have launched talks with potential customers at the Dubai air show that could lead to up to six billion dollars in contracts, a United Arab Emirates (UAE) official said Thursday, November 8.
Sheikh Ahmed Bin Said Al-Maktoum, director general of the Dubai civil aviation department, said the talks covered military and civilian equipment, according to a statement released at the end of the five-day air show.
The vice-president of Russia's Sukhoi design bureau, Alexander Klementiev, told reporters Tuesday that his firm was in talks with many Middle Eastern countries to sell its Su-30 combat aircraft, but he gave no other details.
Deals worth $16 billion were announced at the seventh edition of the air show held in the north of the UAE, including a $15-billion aircraft order by Dubai's Emirates airlines to Airbus and Boeing.
Dubai international airport also announced on Sunday additional expansion plans at the cost of $1.1 billion to accommodate the new A380 super-jumbos that are part of Emirates' latest deal with Airbus. — (AFP, Dubai)
