Singapore’s Creative Technology, a global producer of PC entertainment products, is planning to establish a regional office in Dubai before the end of this year. The headquarters will cater to all the countries in the Middle East region, including Iran, as well as CIS states, and North and Central Africa.
According to a senior executive at Creative Technology, the Middle East is a rapidly growing market, especially taking into consideration increasing oil prices. Last year, the company decided to complement its distribution center in Jebel Ali with an office in Dubai.
The Khaleej Times reported that Creative Technology recorded $60 million in sales last year, and that the company is projecting roughly 30 percent growth this year. It expects that by establishing a regional office in Dubai, its Middle East sales will experience a dramatic boost.
Creative Technology recently launched in Dubai its NOMAD Jukebox, a 6GB hard disk drive portable MP3 player, which can store over 150 CDs of music or 1,500 songs in its memory. Six global teams had worked together to create this product.
In May 2000, Creative Technology disclosed that it has signed a definitive agreement with Cirrus Logic Inc. and Vertex Technology Fund (II) Ltd. to form eMicro Corporation, a joint manufacturing venture based in Singapore. Under the terms of the agreement, eMicro has become licensee of Cirrus Logic's proprietary circuits — and a strategic supplier of audio codecs and other mixed-signal chip solutions to Creative Technology.
Founded in 1981, Creative Technology was listed on the US Nasdaq stock exchange in 1992 and gained a listing on the main board of the Stock Exchange of Singapore. Creative Technology develops, manufactures, and markets a wide array of advanced multimedia solutions for the PC, entertainment, education, music and productivity tools markets.
Creative's products are marketed through the OEM, systems integrator and retail channels under a variety of trademarks, including the “Blaster” family name. Creative's corporate headquarters and primary manufacturing are based in Singapore, with sales, distribution and research and development being carried out through an extensive, global network of subsidiaries located in North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. — (Albawaba-MEBG)
