Siemens Oman, in association with Omantel, has launched the Omanization program, contributing to the employment of the Local Resources Workshop.
This workshop was held in Ibra, 200 kilometers from Muscat, from February 1-3 in an effort to continue with the activities of employing local human resources in the private sector. In addition to the workshop, there was also an exhibition running for companies leading the private sector in the Sultanate. At the Siemens stand, situated close to the Omantel stand, visitors could see the history of Siemens in the Sultanate, as well as applications and solutions on PC related to the mobile world of Siemens.
Most importantly, at the Siemens stand, Omani nationals were able to take the time to fill up an application form for a possible career in Siemens, while observing the company's Omanization growth rate.
In line with the economic development in the Sultanate, Siemens has been periodically employing Omani nationals through a variety of professional levels, from managers to engineers, technicians and administrative personnel. Siemens also offers on-the-job training both locally and abroad.
Since 1977, Siemens has been executing telecom projects in the Sultanate to establish a separate dedicated Siemens Muscat Branch for upgrading the telecommunication facilities to digitalized exchanges. Siemens ICMN also established the first GSM network in the Sultanate in 1996 with a capacity of 100,000 subscribers. It has since been awarded the first ever Intelligent Network platform for establishment in Oman, and has also contributed to the introduction of prepaid cards. At present, around 450,000 subscribers are registered on the Siemens HLR system, with around 200,000 prepaid subscribers. — (menareport.com)
