Entries have opened for the Emirates Businesswomen Award that is designed to encourage women to play an active role in business in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
US oil major Shell and the Dubai Quality Group launched the award, now in its second year, to provide young women with role models in business. The award is open to local and expat women who have five years of experience in business, whether as professionals or as business owners or investors. The competition closes on February 15, 2004 and will culminate in an awards ceremony in May.
“The success of the first award has been followed by a marked increase in women’s activities and greater attention being paid to the topic of women in business,” said Manager of External Affairs for Shell Dubai & Northern Emirates, Hussain Al-Mahmoudi. “Our sponsorship is part of our strategy of supporting initiatives that benefit society and are sustainable.” — (menareport.com)
