The tender for the construction of the Sharjah-Ras Al-Khaimah (RAK) highway, issued by the United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s Ministry of Public Works and Housing, will draw to a close on January 27. The ministry expects to choose the winning bidder in April 2003, with the help of project consultant, the British Halcrow Group.

The project, whose total cost is estimated at 330 million Emirati dirhams ($90 million), is designed to connect the emirates of Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al-Khaimah. The dual carriageway road will run 62 kilometers, parallel to an existing road. The two-phase project is scheduled for completion by year-end 2005. — (menareport.com)
